Whether you are looking to treat yourself or a loved one to a Morganite ring, you are in the right place!
Personally, I am a huge fan of this peachy gem.
But is Morganite expensive and how much does a Morganite ring cost?
Let's take a closer look!
What is a Morganite?
Morganite is a member of the beryl family, making it a so called cousin of aquamarine and emerald.
It's colour ranges from light pink to peachy pink.
Although Morganite was discovered over a century ago, it has received the majority of its attention in the last ten years. With its delicate colour and warm overtones, fashionistas and brides-to-be all over the world are choosing this elegant gem for their collection.
On Moh's Hardness Scale, Morganite ranks as a 7.5 to 8 (in comparison to diamonds at 10 and sapphires at 9), but if worn with care it is suitable for everyday.
Morganite is perfect for all types of jewellery and for any occasion, especially if you are a fan of rose gold as I am, I highly recommend it. If not, it also looks beautiful in white gold for a stunning contrast.
Is Morganite rare?
Morganite is fairly abundant. It forms in large crystals, with some specimens from Brazil reportedly weighing up to 10kg.
Consequently, Morganite is available in large variety of shapes and sizes making it perfect for large statement pieces such as cocktail rings as well as smaller jewellery items like pendants, earrings and engagement rings.
Does Morganite come in different qualities?
When it comes to quality and colour, Morganite is fairly consistent so you don't have to worry about the 4Cs like you do with diamonds.
Good quality Morganite is a lovely peachy colour and looks fairly similar, which is great if you are looking to create a matching set of ring, necklace and earrings.
But don’t go too small, the smaller the stone, the lighter the colour looks.
Larger Morganites show more saturated colour.
I find that stones smaller than 5mm in diameter show little colour.
Is Morganite expensive?
Morganite is considerably less expensive than diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, aquamarine and alexandrite.
Many of my clients are pleasantly surprised by how affordable this gorgeous coloured stone really is.
How much does a Morganite ring cost?
Here are three things that will affect the price of your morganite ring:
size of the morganite
accent or side stones (e.g. diamond halo, large side stones, diamonds on the shoulders)
complexity of design (e.g. a solitaire vs. intricate details)
The price of your Morganite ring will also depend on whether you decide to go for a custom-made, customised or a Ready-to-Wear ring.
