How much is a Sapphire Engagement Ring?

Whether you are searching for your perfect engagement ring or looking to treat yourself to a Sapphire ring, you are in the right place!

Personally, I am a huge fan of sapphires and love that they come in all colours of the rainbow.

But are sapphires expensive and how much does a Sapphire ring cost?

Let's take a closer look!

How much does a Sapphire ring cost?

Here are five things that will affect the price of your Sapphire ring:

  • size of the sapphire (carat weight)

  • sapphire colour (blue, green, teal, pink, purple, orange, yellow etc)

  • shape of the sapphire (What shape should I go for?)

  • accent or side stones (e.g. diamond halo, large side stones, diamonds on the shoulders)

  • complexity of design (e.g. a solitaire vs. intricate details)

The price of your Sapphire ring will also depend on whether you decide to go for a Custom, Semi-Custom or a Ready-to-Wear ring.

Want to learn more about the difference between these options, check out my previous blog, Custom vs. Semi-Custom, what is the difference?

What colours do sapphires come in?

When the word “sapphire” is used alone it refers to BLUE sapphire.

Any colour other than blue falls into the “fancy” sapphire category and is called by its colour, eg. purple sapphire, green sapphire, blue-green sapphire etc. (as seen below).

Other colours include Orange, Yellow, Pink and White.

Each colour comes in a variety of shades from dark to light, so when it comes to blue and fancy sapphires, you have a lot to choose from!

Which sapphire colour is the most expensive?

Blue sapphires tend to be more expensive than other colours but the price will depend on the intensity of colour.

There is always a range to choose from in different shapes and sizes to suit different budgets.

Blue-green, teal and Montana sapphires are usually less expensive than blue sapphires but due to their growing popularity in the last 5 years the prices are rising for these unique colours.

For a more budget-friendly option, consider a green sapphire.

Pink and purple sapphires have also been gaining popularity, making them more expensive than orange and yellow sapphires.

When it comes to fancy coloured sapphires, Padparadscha (“Pad-pa-rad-sha”) sapphire is considered to be the most rare variety and comes with a higher price tag. It shows a unique combination of pink and orange colours and is named after a lotus flower.

Due to its rarity, it is often more expensive than other colours of the same size.

Here is a gorgeous example:

Anastasia Ring from our Ready-to-Wear collection features a 1.02 carat Padparadscha sapphire, ethically sourced from Sri Lanka.
