Although classic engagement rings like round diamond solitaires in white gold are always in style and continue to be very popular, if you are looking for something a little more exciting, this post is for you!
Engagement ring trends often start with celebrities and we've already had 3 very exciting celebrity engagements this year!
Megan Fox, Avril Lavigne and Jennifer Lopez all received their unique engagement rings earlier this year and I love how different they all are.
Here is a roundup of Top 3 Engagement Ring Trends for 2022.
Toi et Moi Engagement Rings
Can't decide between a sparkling diamond or a vibrant coloured gemstone?
Why not get both?
The Toi et Moi rings (aka You and Me rings) typically have 2 stones, a combination of a diamond and a coloured gemstone. But feel free to choose 2 coloured gemstones if that's more your style!
Machine Gun Kelly presented Megan Fox with a stunning engagement ring which features both of their birthstones, emerald (her May birthstone) and diamond (his April birthstone).
Gemstones come in a wide variety of colours, giving you unlimited possibilities when it comes to selecting the perfect gemstones for your dream, two-stone engagement ring.

Emily Ratajkowski and Ariana Grande both showed off their unique Toi et Moi engagement rings in the past. Emily's ring featured 2 diamonds and Ariana's a diamond and a pearl combination.
Although round shape is still a classic and timeless choice, elongated shapes like ovals, cushions, pears and emerald cuts are still popular this year for both, diamond and gemstone engagement rings.
Today's spotlight however is on the heart shape, like the show-stopper Avril Lavigne received from Mod Sun.
Fancy shapes are great alternatives if you are thinking outside the box and looking for something truly unique.

heart shape for a ring like no other, to stand out among the crowd
ovals, pears and elongated cushions to add a vintage feel to your engagement ring, especially if paired with a diamond halo
emerald cut for geometric, Art Deco look
Trend to watch: Split shanks have gained massive popularity in the last year, are you a fan?
If you have your heart set on a certain shape, remember that some shapes are more readily available depending on the type of the gemstone.
For example, diamonds are available in all sorts of shapes and sizes but when it comes to coloured gemstones, the shape choices can be more limited.
Pro Tip: When deciding on the shape, keep an open mind, especially when it comes to choosing a coloured gemstone. When you fall in love with the colour, you might be pleasantly surprised by a cut you haven't previously considered

Three stone rings
Although 3 stone engagement rings have been popular for many years, we are now seeing this trend evolve from round and oval shapes to more angular looks, think cushions and emerald cuts.
The trilogy settings represents the past, the preset and the future. Three stone engagement rings can be designed with diamonds, coloured gemstones or a combination of both.
For their second engagement together, Ben Affleck presented Jennifer Lopez with a super rare green diamond.
The fun part about designing your three stone engagement ring is that you don't have to choose the same cut for all three stones. Mix and match two different cuts like cushion in the centre and half-moons on the side. Or this gorgeous radiant cut sapphire and trapezoid cut diamonds in white gold below.
In 2017 Prince Harry presented Meghan Markle with a three stone ring featuring a cushion centre and two diamond sides. The couple later upgraded her ring to add more diamonds on the sides for that extra sparkle.
